Excess Baggage Fees

Checking luggage is becoming more expensive due to increased excess baggage fees. Airlines are under financial pressure to offset the cost of rising fuel prices. Many of the airlines are now charging excess baggage fees for checking one or more piece of luggage. The following chart displays checked baggage allowances and fees for travel within the United States on major commercial carriers. These checked baggage charges can often exceed the cost of an airline ticket fare if you plan to travel with more than two bags.

Luggage Forward provides an alternative to hauling your heavy luggage to the airport, waiting in long check-in lines, and waiting at the baggage claim. Have all of your bags picked up at your front door and delivered directly to your destination. Our guaranteed door-to-door baggage delivery service will provide you with stress-free travel and save you time at the airport, so you can spend more time at the beach, take another run down the mountain, prepare for a business meeting, or make that early tee time.

In addition to the excess baggage allowances outlined above, many airlines charge even more for checking a fourth bag. All airlines have checked luggage fee structures for oversized, overweight, and international baggage. Specific airline regulations can be found by clicking on the baggage policy links above. For most airlines, bags over 50 pounds (23 Kgs) are subject to additional fees which start around $50. Many airlines have additional fees for checking sports equipment such as skis, golf bags, and bikes. Also, International flights typically have even higher fees and the prices above are for domestic US flights. Learn about airline carry-on baggage policies and restrictions.

Avoid all this and forward your luggage the next time you travel, first time customers save 5%.
