| Certification of the First Very Light Jet Brings New Application for Luggage Delivery Service | |||||
| BOSTON, August 2, 2006 - Luggage Forward,
the premier door-to-door luggage and sports equipment delivery service,
is poised to support the revolution in private air travel that is underway
following the certification of the aviation industry’s newest advancement
– the very light jet (VLJ). Known for their small size as well as
their low operating and acquisition cost, this new class of jet-powered
aircraft tends to be short on one thing – space for luggage.
The Eclipse 500 jet received provisional type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration on July 27, 2006. With the certification of this new type of aircraft, and numerous other models slated for production within the next few years, the course of private air travel may be forever changed. The versatility of these jets will result in a wide variety of operators and passenger. Luggage Forward has in place a reliable solution for these companies and their passengers as the new VLJs offer convenience for passengers, but a certain limitation for passengers traveling with luggage. Luggage Forward has formed a partnership with Linear Air, a company that will begin taking delivery of 30 Eclipse 500 jets later this year. Costing approximately $1.6M, these aircraft have a cabin that can accommodate four or five passengers and have very limited space for luggage. While a VLJ can fly a foursome from New York to South Carolina for an afternoon round of golf, it may not be able to also accommodate the golf clubs. Luggage Forward provides travelers like these with a guaranteed door-to-door luggage and sports equipment delivery solution, whether the trip is planned the day before or months before. Luggage Forward is familiar with the behaviors and requirements of the private aviation community. The company opened a kiosk, the first of its kind, earlier this summer at the Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK). The airport, the second busiest in New England, services a many private jets. Luggage Forward opened this airport location to serve passengers flying privately as well as commercially, as weight restrictions on smaller aircraft can prevent a full load of passengers from taking their full load of luggage. The company also works frequently with many of the fractional private jet operators that often rely on the service to move excess luggage. About Luggage Forward Media Contact: |
