Going To Scotland? Bite The Bullet And Ship Your Clubs

July 29, 2015 · Geoff Shackelford

With the recent run of UK events, we know from players making the trip that no matter how famous you are or how obvious it is that you are a professional golfer, the airlines just aren't great with golf clubs these days. Especially flying internationally. Just in the last few weeks, I give you Brittany Lincicome, Stacy Lewis and Graham DeLaet, among others. Oh, and then there was what DeLaet's clubs looked like when he opened his travel bag. For the return journey, Luggage Forward picked up my clubs late at my last lodging locale late on a Thursday. After I had made a leisurely trip to the airport without lugging the clubs, I returned home and by the following Monday afternoon the clubs were here. In between I got email updates on their location. Everything was in perfect order. when they arrived.  read more ...

TECH AND TOURISM: 11 PEOPLE CHANGING THE WAY WE TRAVEL

July 9, 2015 · Sucheta Rawal

Aaron Kirley and Zeke Adkins, Luggage Forward co-founders. Claim to fame: Skipping the luggage carousel After spending a fair amount of time schlepping bags through airports, Aaron Kirley and Zeke Adkins set out to form a company that ensures bags arrive at the destination at the same time as travelers — by mailing them. Why not just check the bags? Luggage Forward offers a reliable and cost-effective door-to-door luggage delivery service that saves time, excess baggage fees and customs hassles. Naturally, the founders — who met in high school — say the idea sprang from their own unfortunate experiences lugging bags through airports. Travelers can ship luggage and sports gear (bikes, skis, snowboards, golf clubs) to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide using Luggage Forward.  read more ...

Smaller carry-on bags are coming — here’s what to do

July 6, 2015 · Elliott

Well, please remember it, because tighter luggage standards are coming. Mark my words. Every time an airline adds a new row of seats, we move one step closer. It may even get to the point where sending luggage by express mail makes more sense. There are services that already let you do that, like Luggage Forward and Luggage Free, but they’re pricey.  read more ...

10 ways to survive summer air travel nightmares

June 25, 2015 · The Business Journals

Your bags shouldn't be baggage — Getting yourself from Point A to Point B while you duck summer storms is difficult and draining enough. Don't magnify the problems by checking luggage, which will only slow you down and might not fly with you as you pick your way through the detritus of summer schedules. Fly only with carry-ons whenever possible. If you must pack a load, ship it instead. Third-parties such as Luggage Forward and commercial shippers such as FedEx or UPS aren't cheap, but they are more reliable than airlines.  read more ...
